Position Title: PLM/Supply Chain Architect
Location: San Ramon, CA or Los Angeles, CA
Duration: 12 Months
A PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) / Supply Chain Architect combines the expertise of both supply chain management and product lifecycle management to create and optimize processes for designing, producing, and delivering products. This role typically focuses on aligning product development and manufacturing processes with supply chain operations to ensure smooth, efficient workflows from concept to delivery.
Here’s an overview of what a PLM/Supply Chain Architect does:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Integrating PLM with Supply Chain Systems:
• Ensures that PLM tools work seamlessly with the organization’s supply chain systems
• Creates workflows that allow information about product designs, changes, and specifications to flow easily between product development, manufacturing, and logistics.
2. Designing End-to-End Processes:
• Designs the complete product journey, from initial design and development through manufacturing and distribution. This includes coordinating product data management and supply chain execution.
• Works on product configurations and supply chain configurations to ensure that the right materials, production schedules, and logistics align with product demand and production capabilities.
3. Optimizing Product Lifecycle:
• Develops strategies to improve the efficiency of the product lifecycle. This includes streamlining processes related to product development, manufacturing, packaging, and delivery.
• Ensures that product data is efficiently managed and easily accessible to teams across departments (engineering, production, procurement, and logistics).
4. Collaborating Across Departments:
• Acts as a bridge between product development teams (engineering, design, R&D) and supply chain teams (procurement, manufacturing, distribution).
• Ensures all stakeholders (from product managers to suppliers) have access to accurate, real-time product and supply chain data, fostering better decision-making.
5. Supply Chain Visibility:
• Uses PLM tools to provide visibility into inventory levels, production timelines, and distribution processes, improving the agility of the supply chain.
• Implements systems that track product changes and manage variations to avoid disruptions in the supply chain.
6. Data Management:
• Manages product-related data from initial concept through end-of-life (EOL), including compliance data, specifications, and product variants.
• Ensures all teams involved in the product lifecycle have access to the latest, most accurate data to avoid errors and improve the speed of decision-making.
7. Technology Integration:
• Integrates advanced technologies such as data analytics, AI, IoT, and automation into both PLM and supply chain systems to improve processes like predictive maintenance, demand forecasting, and inventory optimization.
• Leverages cloud-based solutions for improved collaboration across global supply chains.
