Essential Job Functions:
- Will assess patients prior to surgery.
- Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and in order.
- Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure.
- Initiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure.
- Assess patients’ post-operative condition.
- Monitor vital signs.
- Log all findings in patient’s medical record.
- Answer patient questions and ensure they are kept comfortable.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative instructions.
- Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the physician.
- Will support the Nurse Coordinator
- Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies.
Education, Licensure and Experience
- Minimum 2-3 years management experience in a Pre-Op/PACU environment.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in nursing or other health-related field or equivalent work experience. MHN preferred.
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) License required.
- Successful completion of BLS, ACLS and PALS.
