GSSi, Inc. is a privately held family-owned security company with 81 years of experience in providing highly trained Security officers to our continuously growing list of commercial, industrial and government clients.
Our Corporate office in Wilmington is currently Recruiting for this unique position as a school crossing guard for a charter school in the South Los Angeles area. This is a split shift schedule (see below) YOU MUST BE ABLE TO WORK BOTH THE MORNING AND AFTERNOON SHIFTS.
GSSi will provide ALL training, gear, and equipment. Crossing guards will be trained using the California Department of Public Health guidelines on crossing guard duties.
Schedule:
Monday 7:00am-9:00am and 3:30pm-5:30pm
Tuesday 7:00am-9:00am and 2:00pm-5:30pm
Wednesday 7:00am-9:00am and 3:30pm-5:30pm
Thursday 7:00am-9:00am and 3:30pm-5:30pm
Friday 7:00am-9:00am and 3:30pm-5:30pm
Pay: $17.25hr
*Due to the split shift schedule you are paid an additional hour per day.
Requirements:
- Good customer service/people skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to stand, walk for extended periods
- Basic understanding of safety principles and practices
- First Aid/CPR (GSSi can assist w/training)
- Must have the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Duties:
- Provide crossing guard services at assigned location.
- Ensure that all students crossing the street are safe, by using the stop paddle to stop
vehicles and/or create gaps in traffic.
- Ensure that students are aware of proper safety rules when crossing streets.
- Instruct the students in basic safety techniques when crossing streets (look left,
right, left again)
- Remain visible to the public during working hours; remain calm in emergency
situations.
Abilities Required:
- Learn to operate crossing guard equipment safely and effectively.
- Instruct children on basic safety procedures related to crossing streets.
- Remain alert and attentive during working hours.
- Remain calm and use good judgment in emergency situations.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the
course of work.

Field Environment:
Exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, moving objects/vehicles.

Physical: Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; use of hands and arms for signaling; light lifting and carrying of stop paddle sign.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; vision sufficient for distinguishing colors and depth perception.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
