POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are currently seeking a Career Coach in our Tuscola County Service Center in Caro to work closely with jobseekers in various Michigan Works! programs to help them with their training and employment goals. The goal of this position is to provide assistance to participants, including youth and refugees, by interviewing, assessing, providing support services, follow-up and referrals. The ideal candidate would be good at developing relationships and making connections with our customers to ensure training and employments goals are met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide initial and extended interviews and assessments with participants to identify needs, interests, and abilities. Assistance may include resume writing, interview skills and career exploration and referrals to other agencies, as appropriate.
- Assist participants in developing Individual Services Strategies and employment plans that fit participants’ aptitudes, educational levels, physical abilities, career goals and local employer demand.
- Provide information to participants about the types of Michigan Works programs and services for which he or she may be eligible and assist with selection of programs based on individual interest, aptitude, eligibility and local employer demand.
- Work collaboratively with the Business Services team in monitoring available job leads, on-the-job or customized training opportunities, screening participants and making referrals when appropriate
- Prepare and maintain records and case files, including documentation such as participants’ personal and eligibility information, services provided, narratives of client contacts, and relevant correspondence.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates degree in Social Work, Human Services, Career Counseling, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred, however experience within the field will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Knowledge of information technology, Microsoft Office Suite, and telecommunication hardware.
- Maintain confidentiality while providing patient, friendly and participant centered services.
- Knowledge of relevant human service programs and policies, resources and procedures.
- Bi-lingual candidate preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.66 per hour
