What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Customs Broker position at GTI Fabrication?
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Licensed Customs Broker to manage and ensure seamless importation and exportation of goods.
You will be responsible for arranging clearances through customs, preparing and submitting necessary documentation, and ensuring adherence to regulatory laws, proper HS codes, and Federal government guidelines.
Our ideal candidate is experienced in navigating the complexities of customs regulations, new tariff schemes, who has excellent problem-solving skills, and demonstrates a strong understanding of import/export processes.
The person acts as a liaison between GTI import and export and the US government’s custom and border control department (CBP).
Overall duties and responsibilities include:
· Preparing and submitting required documentation for the import or export of goods prior to shipments
· Calculating and processing duties and taxes to be paid based on proper HS codes
· Obtaining, preparing, and processing import and export permits
· Ensuring that all shipments comply with USA customs laws and regulations set forth by CBP.
· Advising GTI leadership on import and export restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements, quotas, or other customs-related matters
· Communicating with clients, customs officers, and shipping companies to ensure smooth handling of shipments
· Provide status of critical shipments and notifying Leadership in Operations team on arrival
· Resolving any issues that may arise during the shipping process
· Maintaining knowledge of all applicable customs laws, tariffs, and regulations
· Keeping accurate records in compliance with government regulations
Responsibilities
· Prepare and process import and export documentation according to customs regulations, laws, or procedures.
· Collaborate with Finance in arranging for payment of duties, taxes, storage, and transportation of imported goods and coordinate the delivery of goods.
· Provide advice on transportation options, types of carriers, or shipping routes.
· Provide/submit evidence with customs (CBP) and other government officials for the quick processing of shipments or upon subpoena.
· Stay current with changes in import/export laws and regulations and inform leaders.
· Resolve issues related to cargo transportation, including disputes or discrepancies.
· Track and trace the status of shipments.
Qualifications
· Licensed Customs Broker legally to represent GTI Energy/Fabrication
· B.S. or B.A in business, accounting, engineering, or related fields.
· Strong knowledge of import/export laws and regulations.
· Experience with customs declaration documents/software.
· Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
