Position Summary

The Senior Systems Specialist provides functional expertise in managing and optimizing computer applications within an assigned department. This role requires a deep understanding of system functionalities, the ability to lead project teams, and proficiency in troubleshooting moderately complex system issues. Responsibilities also include developing functional documentation, reviewing technical materials, and creating training resources to support system users effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze customer needs and deliver appropriate solutions, including online applications, electronic forms, and complex reports.
• Act as a liaison between application users and technical teams, providing education, problem-solving, and negotiation to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Maintain and optimize departmental applications in collaboration with IT teams or external software vendors, ensuring seamless implementation, maintenance, testing, and functional design.
• Represent the department on system implementation projects, process improvements, and policy updates, managing system-related programs as needed.
• Develop and distribute reports, maintain databases, and contribute to documentation that supports system operations.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory requirements, providing expert guidance and education to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and accreditation standards while delivering exceptional customer service.
• In some instances, oversee and supervise staff members.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant business discipline or Computer Science.
• 3 to 5 years of experience working with systems, serving as a functional "super-user," or providing consultative input on application usage and design.
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with system implementation and project management.
• Additional expertise in specialized applications related to the assigned department.
• Advanced education or certifications in relevant fields.
