Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating transportation operations, ensuring timely delivery of freight, and maintaining effective communication with suppliers, drivers and clients. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to analyze logistical challenges while utilizing various transportation management systems.
Duties
- Coordinate and schedule shipments, ensuring optimal routing and timely delivery of freight.
- Utilize GPS technology to track vehicles and monitor delivery progress.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, providing them with necessary information regarding routes, schedules, and any changes.
- Analyze transportation data to identify trends and improve efficiency in dispatching operations.
- Manage shipping and receiving processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to facilitate seamless transportation solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including logs of shipments and communications.
- Provide excellent phone etiquette when interacting with clients, drivers, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Proven experience in logistics or dispatching roles is preferred.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of freight operations and shipping/receiving processes.
- Excellent analytical skills to assess logistical challenges effectively.
- Proficient in using GPS technology for tracking shipments.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving within transportation planning.
- Prior experience working with 3PL providers is a nice-to-have.
