Overview:
Seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented professional to join our Finance team as Project Controller. This is a full-time, W2 role at our Chantilly, Virginia headquarters.
Will become hybrid (3 days on site, 2 days remote) after a 90 day probationary period. This critical role will report directly to the Sr. Corporate Controller.

The Project Controller will be responsible for all elements of project control within the organization. The project controller works closely with stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. In close coordination with Operations and Accounting/Finance will support project planning, forecasting, and risk management processes.
Requirements:
- The project controller is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the financial performance of projects.
- Reconcile actual vs. budget costs per project monthly and identify any variances.
- Track employees and subcontractors incurred hours and dollars.
- Ensure adequate funding availability and support timely requests for additional funding to the customer.
- Assist with reviewing government invoices for accuracy.
- Track and report on project costs, revenues, margins, and variances.
- Analyze and communicate project financial and operational performance to project managers and senior management.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
- Support project audits and compliance reviews.
- Provide guidance and training to project managers and project teams on project financial and operational matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Provide effective and accurate communication of key financial metrics through the development of estimates to complete (ETC), estimates at complete (EAC), program management reviews, and other project financial deliverables.
- Perform a weekly review of project time and costs posted to Unanet with Project Manager to ensure accurate reporting of project activity. Follow up and take the appropriate steps to correct invalid charges.
- Manage the reclassification of incorrectly coded expenses and labor to the correct project.
- Interact with PMs on cost and revenue discrepancies.
- Monitor funding backlog against ceiling.
- Recommend adjustments, such as redistribution of funds within budget accounts, in response to changes in programs, wrap rate changes, staffing levels, and/or funds available.
- Accumulate and access historical data, such as burn rate analysis, for use in maintaining a realistic basis for future planning and forecasting.
- Audits monthly labor, ODC, material, and travel costs against ceiling & funding, ensuring accurate and timely billing.
- Assist Pm's for EVMS activities including: WBS alignment, time phasing of the purchases, developing and documenting earned value methodologies, monthly performance measurement, estimate to complete analysis and updates, and variance analysis research and reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or Business-related field.
- Minimum 10 years' experience working for a Federal Government Contractor.
- Solid understanding of all contract types, FAR regulations, government compliance.
- Strong personnel management experience and communication skills.
- Process improvement skills.
- Ability to present to Senior Leadership.
- Proficiency with Unanet or Deltek CostPoint Project Module.
- Demonstrated experience with business planning/forecasting modules within Unanet, Deltek Costpoint or other DCAA-compliant accounting software.
- Experience supporting CPFF, T&M and Fixed Price contracts.
- Knowledge of government cost accounting standards and regulations.
- Ability to provide detailed financial reports to project managers, stakeholders, and senior management on project progress, including cost tracking, revenue recognition, and potential risks.
- Familiarity with multiple reporting tools including Excel and Unanet
- Ability to work in a small team with a highly collaborative manner to meet required deadlines and perform all necessary tasks.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
