What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Writer (Remote) position at GTSC?
Location: Remote, but may be asked to go on site in Arlington, Virginia to meetings. Monday to Friday day shift.
Position Information:
We have a current opening for a Technical Writer to support the FDIC, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. This is a mostly remote role with possibility of in person meetings in Virginia.
They will provide technical writing services to Core Engineering Services. Create, Update and Maintain all technical documentation. Develop training material / videos on Azure Enterprise Infrastructure, and coordinate and provide training sessions to end users.
Job responsibilities
- Prepare instruction manuals, SOP's and knowledge articles
- Disseminate technical information in easy-to-understand language for a non-technical audience
- Have technical accuracy in writing user documentation
- Create documentation after a collaboration with subject matter experts and technical staff
- Ability to take existing and potential content and improve it
- Convert complex documentation to easy language for multiple audiences
- Write documentation for internal teams such as developers and programmers
- Communicate complex ideas in a concise manner
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent amount of work experience.
- At least six (6) years of proven experience in writing technical documentation.
- ServiceNow Knowledge Management experience or similar experience in other ITSM platforms.
- Understand and explain complex technical concepts.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Ability to undertake multiple projects and deliver on tight deadlines.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Solid grip on documentation publishing software such as Adobe, SnagIt, and other software.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office O365.
- Detail-oriented and ability to multitask.
Additioanl Requirements:
- Candidates must be in good financial standing. This includes not having: bankruptcies, car reposessions, poor credit score, debt collection without a payment plan, or bad standing with the IRS.
- All applicants must be United States Citizens.
- This position supports a federal government agency that requires a Background Investigation. The candidate must be able to clear a Public Trust clearance as well in order to commence work. That requires living in the United States for the past three years.
