The Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools serves 1600 students from PreK-12 and is a free, open-enrollment public charter school. Over 96% of our students are Latinx. Our school system consists of Guadalupe Centers High School, Guadalupe Centers Middle School, and Guadalupe Centers Elementary School. Our system grew out of Guadalupe Centers’ educational programming. Guadalupe Centers is the longest continuously operating agency serving the Latinx community in the US since 1919. Job Summary:
This position is responsible for monitoring students and their behavior during meals in the lunchroom and referring problems to the principal or designated teacher.
Reports To: Summer School Site Director
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Monitors all cafeteria activities for both breakfast and lunch periods.
- Monitors all meals for students and adults.
- Ensures all students in line are taking meals.
- Maintains and utilizes knowledge of meal patterns and monitors reusable meals.
- Applies knowledge of what constitutes a partial and full meal.
- Ensures the lunch room is clean at all times.
- Monitors and ensures servers are wearing gloves.
- Monitors cafeteria functions including ensuring milk is chilled at all times.
- Supervises the behavior of children and keeps the order of children in the lunch line.
- Hang up the food menu at the entryway of the lunch room after the menu has been created and posted.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
- Committed to working with under-served students.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience in a cafeteria and office.
- Bilingual ability, English and Spanish required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the school and cafeteria.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
