SUMMARY
The Community and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role on the Guadalupe Center team, serving as a key connector between the organization and the community. This position works closely with the President/CEO, Vice President of Development, Senior Director of Philanthropy, Director of Philanthropy and other dedicated staff and volunteers to develop, coordinate, and execute impactful community engagement events. Through these initiatives, the coordinator will raise awareness, generate support, and cultivate a strong network of volunteers to advance Guadalupe Center’s mission and transformational work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research, organize, and implement innovative community event opportunities designed to boost revenue and increase Guadalupe Center’s visibility.
- Evaluate and implement best practices to enhance existing Guadalupe Center community events for greater success and engagement.
- Partner with the Director of Business Operations & Data to ensure accurate recording of event and tour participants, in-kind donors, and proper acknowledgment and receipts are sent promptly.
- Proactively develop and manage a pipeline of potential community partners to expand Guadalupe Center’s network and influence.
- Collaborate with the Director of Philanthropy, Vice President of Development, Community & Volunteer Engagement Council, and Board of Trustees to identify, cultivate, and secure funding opportunities from community event beneficiaries.
- Support the School Supply Drive and Holiday Gift Shop Toy Collection Drive initiatives by coordinating, soliciting, and stewarding community and individual partners in collaboration with the designated program team.
- Create detailed task timelines and calendars for community presentations, tours, and events, ensuring all action items are completed on schedule.
- Coordinate and document meetings with community partners and volunteers, including scheduling, communicating details, and maintaining records in the organization’s CRM.
- Provide timely and personalized stewardship through in-person meetings, thank-you calls, emails, and CauseVid videos to engage supporters effectively.
- Collaborate with the Director of Philanthropy to plan, manage, and execute impactful community engagement events that raise awareness, build relationships with community partners, and create a pipeline of prospective donors and volunteers.
- Recruit, orient, and lead volunteer engagement activities under the guidance of the Director of Philanthropy, fostering meaningful relationships that encourage volunteers to convert their time and talent into long-term support.
- Attend all assigned meetings promptly and contribute effectively to discussions.
- Assist with additional special projects as assigned to further the organization’s goals.

Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor degree in communications, human services, nonprofit management, or related field
- Successful community outreach or engagement (and/or marketing) experience in nonprofit organization or in corporate setting beneficial
- Experience with communications and public relations beneficial
- Creativity and ability to work diplomatically with donors, volunteers and other Guadalupe Center Team members
REQUIRED SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrates the ability to develop and execute plans that align with Guadalupe Center’s mission, identifying long-term opportunities for growth and community impact.
- Proven ability to lead teams, inspire volunteers, and foster collaborative relationships with staff, donors, and community partners.
- Exhibits strong verbal and written communication abilities, enabling effective engagement with diverse audiences, including donors, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously while working effectively as part of a dynamic and goal-oriented team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with CRM platforms, particularly Raiser's Edge, is highly preferred.
- Responds diplomatically and creatively to conflicting priorities, ensuring all stakeholders feel heard and supported while advancing organizational goals.
- Detail-oriented with excellent time-management skills to ensure deadlines are met and programs run efficiently.
- Ability to work autonomously while taking initiative and maintaining accountability for responsibilities and outcomes.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and local, state, and federal background checks to ensure the safety and integrity of working with students and families.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience in cultivating and managing volunteers to enhance their contributions of time, talent, and resources.
- Background in planning and executing large-scale community events or fundraising initiatives that engage diverse audiences.
- Skilled at creating meaningful partnerships with community leaders, organizations, and businesses to expand Guadalupe Center’s network and support base.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
- Indoor office environment
- Exposure to outdoor environment during special events
- May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties
- Will require some evening and weekend hours
- Minimal lifting may be required not to exceed 25 pounds
