Summary: The custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of Guadalupe Centers’ facilities, ensuring all areas are safe and secure.

- Cleaning and Sanitizing:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, ensuring supplies are replenished.
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces regularly to maintain a hygienic environment.
- Waste Management:
- Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables following established procedures.
- Monitor and empty trash bins regularly, ensuring proper disposal of waste.
- Floor Care:
- Strip, wax, and polish floors as needed.
- Ensure carpets are vacuumed and steam-cleaned periodically.
- Security and Safety:
- Maintain a secure and safe environment by promptly addressing spills and hazardous situations.
- Follow safety protocols and report any safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Supply Management:
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other necessary items.
- Report any missing or damaged items to the Lead Custodian(s).
- Collaboration:
- Report any maintenance issues, such as broken fixtures or equipment, to the Director of Custodial Services.
- Coordinate with other staff members to ensure a seamless cleaning schedule.
- Assist with special cleaning projects as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- At least 6 months of proven experience as a custodian or in a similar role is required.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies is required.
- Ability to handle basic maintenance tasks required.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects required.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

This job operates in a professional office environment. Guadalupe Centers serves a diverse population, including children, adolescents, and adults, some of whom may have mental or behavioral health problems. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move chairs, vacuum, and clean restrooms. These tasks require that the employee often bends at the waist and raises and lowers or moves their arm in a pushing or pulling motion. The employee will also be required to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance. The position also requires the ability to stand for up to eight hours per shift. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, and work output.
This job also requires regular talking and hearing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, such as reading handwritten or typed material and adjusting focus. In addition, the position requires distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception vision abilities. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with other staff.
