Lead Custodian

Summary: The Lead Custodian at Guadalupe Centers is responsible for overseeing the custodial team's cleaning activities inside the organization's buildings. This role involves both leadership duties and training new staff in proper custodial procedures, including the use of tools, machines, and cleaning agents. The Lead Custodian plays a pivotal role in maintaining cleanliness and safety standards across Guadalupe Centers' facilities.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Team Leadership:
- Lead and supervise a team of custodial staff members.
- Schedule and assign daily cleaning tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the custodial team.
- Provide training and guidance to new custodial staff members.
- Assist the Director and Manager of Custodial Services with timekeeping (e.g. confirming that employees work assigned hours).
Cleaning and Maintenance:

Perform and oversee routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.

Coordinate and execute deep cleaning projects on a scheduled basis.

Monitor and maintain the overall cleanliness of the facility.
Quality Control:

Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleaning standards are met.

Address any issues or deficiencies promptly and implement corrective actions.

Uphold a high level of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the premises.
Equipment and Supplies Management:

Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.

Ensure that all custodial staff have the necessary tools and supplies to perform their duties.

Coordinate with procurement to order supplies as needed.

Assist the Manager of Custodial Services with orders and distribution of custodial supplies and equipment to custodial staff and/or storage locations. (E.g. cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuums, mops, etc.)
Reporting and Documentation:

Prepare and submit regular reports on cleaning activities, supplies usage, and maintenance needs.

Document and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues.
Training and Development:

Provide ongoing training to custodial staff on proper cleaning techniques and safety procedures.

Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions.

Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
Security and Safety:

Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Report and address any safety concerns promptly.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years of job-related experience required.
- Experience may be substituted for education.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
- Bilingual is required
