What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Instructor position at Guadalupe-Parkway Neighborhood Center?
Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, has the responsibility for the instruction of a designated subject area at one site. With the following of communicating effectively with all staff members,work effectively with Team Leaders. Informing executive staff immediately of any conditions detrimental to the health, safety, or orderly delivery of educational services.
- Two positions are able to be combined into a 24 hour work week at the same rate.
Art Teacher- Is to be responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent to develop aesthetic understandings and appreciations; to discover and develop talents of students in the field of art.Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history. Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting. Understand the versatility of acrylic paints: dry brushing, staining, layering, underpainting, monoprinting understand a variety of “masters” techniques. It is very important the students are learning about art and not crafts.
Etiquette Instructor– As an etiquette instructor you will teach children how to navigate society and the world around them. Teach children to express their needs in a polite way and to effectively communicate with others. Help others improve their abilities to interact without risking offense, and serve as appropriate and polite members of society. Showing the students table manners, how to leave a proper tip for waitresses/waiters.
Stem Instructor- Educate students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Their duties include developing STEM curricula,and measuring learner progress. Demonstrating an awareness of different student backgrounds and cultures. Ensure consistent attendance and learning outcomes for the class are met.
Reading Instructor- Helps students read fluently, comprehend what they're reading, and train them in phonetics, spelling, grammar, and vocabulary memorization.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
