Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to provide relief for patients’ families and loved ones, and sit with antagonistic, distressed, dying or suicidal patients, or with those at risk of falling.
Scope of Responsibility
The Hospital ER Sitter will provide care in a manner that soothes patients, observe for changes in their condition, and summon nursing staff where necessary. Will desist from performing unauthorized duties.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent
- Ability to respond swiftly.
- Outstanding communication, listening, and observation skills.
- Calm, confident manner.
- Undeterred by distressed or combative patients.
- Available to work shifts, over weekends, and on public holidays.
