Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to register patients.
Scope of Responsibility
This position is responsible for patient-facing registration and associated tasks which include information collection and validation, requisitioning of orders and services, insurance verification, medical necessity screening, and collection of co-payments and associated paperwork. Additionally, this position will perform order entry, activate registrations, report admissions and transfers, c alling for authorizations for all hospital admissions and any other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Possess the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with customers, both internal and external, including but not limited to : coworkers, patients, patients family members, physicians, physician office staff and insurance company representatives
- Ability to use personal computers including knowledge of Microsoft office products
- Ability to work on multiple tasks with attention to detail, handle urgent tasks and exercise good independent judgment when necessary
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Spanish speaking preferred
- Two years experience in patient registration or closely related field preferred. Hospital patient registration or physician office scheduling / patient registration experience preferred, or bachelors / associate degree
