What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lending Trainer position at Guaranty Bank & Trust Co?
Position Summary:
The Bank Loan Trainer is responsible for improving the productivity of the Bank's lending employees; exercises control over the training program for Loan Officers; responsible for some training in regards to loan assistants and loan ops on functions that overlap with the lenders; and develop training manuals to improve consistencies within the lending function. The Bank Loan Trainer must be knowledgeable of the Bank's loan types, policies, and the lending procedures of the bank.
Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Sr. Lender
Requirements:
Major Accountabilities:
- Understand and train lending personal (Lenders & Loan Assistants) on all loan documentation within Laser Pro; including but not limited to, consumer, commercial, consumer & commercial real estate, and agricultural loans.
- Understand and train on processes of ordering flood determinations, engaging appraisers, ordering title work from attorney/title company, preparing flood packets, and completing required internal checklists.
- Understand and train on interviewing/completing consumer and commercial applications; and collecting financial documents needed for approval on loan requests. Be well-versed in getting TRID documents/change in circumstances processed on consumer real estate loans.
- Understand and train on how to review title work from attorney, underwriting appraisals, how to obtain payoffs and collateral releases, flood certs, homeowners’ insurance, and other required documents to complete the loan file.
- Understand and train on how to analyze credit reports to make an approval or denial of credit.
- Understand and train on how to find things on Navigator in order to process loan payments and draw requests, provide payoffs, and all other research and requested information requests.
- Understand and train lending personal how to complete extensions and the overall process of getting one completed. (Lenders and Loan Assistants)
- Understand and train lending personal how to complete all Bank Process Packages for loan files (Excel file)
- Understand and train on the process of maintaining and reviewing the weekly and monthly reports required by management.
- Understand and train on the process of submitting files to the Loan Operations department for loans to be typed.
- Understand and train on overdraft process and what is needed daily to make decisions as to pay or return.
- Understand the Bank’s lending policy and procedures.
- Understand and train to ensure the loan file is compliant with Bank/Federal/State policies and procedures.
- Train lending personal on other lending functions as found in audits and exams to grow the team’s knowledge of the overall lending function at GB&T.
- Provide exceptional customer service to the lending personal of GB&T.
- Maintains product knowledge through personal development, reading and educational programs offered by the Bank and outside sources.
- Ensure the protection of the Bank’s interests in matter of adequate documentation and adherence to loan policy and various laws and regulations.
Specific Duties:
- Understand and train on how to review and organize closed loans to get booked.
- Complete required training classes.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Positive attitude and good work ethic to show an example to Lending Personal.
- Establish relationships with customers and the community in a manner that will enhance the overall marketing effort of the bank.
Work Environment
- This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands

- This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a step stool as necessary.
