Position Summary:  

The purpose of this job is to assist the branch manager in all phases of branch operations and assumes responsibility for the branch in the branch manager’s absence.  Must provide efficient operation of the branch ensuring all operational functions and customer service are completely and properly performed by the staff while conveying a feeling of trust, service, security and satisfaction to customers and staff and ensuring the Bank’s participation in various community activities.  Must provide exceptional customer service, open accounts, explain and process transactions, sell other financial services, research and correct customer records, and perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Task Statement(s)

   Branch Credit/Ownership (80%)

  • Schedules and assigns work to all non-lending positions within the branch
  • Coordinates the training and development and where necessary conducts “on the job” training for employees
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining customer and business relations within the branch’s market area
  • Responsible for making customer calls with a primary focus on customer retention, development of new business, excellent customer service and the sale of additional products and services. The Branch Manager will focus on expanding the number of deposit and operational products as well as services utilized by each customer
  • Participates in various community activities on behalf of the bank
  • Ensures all Bank brochures are up to date, stocked, and visibly displayed for customer convenience
  • Organizes bank events such as open house, various holiday events, and other promotional events
  • Keeps staff informed of pertinent changes in operational policy and procedures
  • Ensures the branch and vaults are opened and closed on a timely basis
  • Enforce dual control procedures at all times
  • Prepares performance appraisals and disciplinary notices as required
  • Overall responsibility for the branch’s safekeeping of any of its cash or cash items
  • Continually safeguard the bank’s assets and security of the working environment
  • Responsible for periodic unannounced cash counts of all teller drawers and performs pre-audits to insure ongoing adherence with compliance procedures
  • Performs tellers and CSR duties daily
  • Maintain and test alarms and other security devices
  • Oversees teller and vault cash levels
  • Support staff for Saturday rotation
  • Ensures excellent customer service skills are practiced by all the staff
  • Proficient in Teller Pro in order to help with balancing and corrections
  • Sell, service, and cross sell products and services, deposit accounts, loan products, transaction accounts, and safe deposit boxes
  • Open accounts by preparing the appropriate documents
  • Rent safe deposit boxes; admit customers to safe deposit vault
  • Research and resolve customer problems, acting as the customer liaison between other banks departments when necessary
  • Research and answer customer inquiries
  • Initiate wire transfers on behalf of customers
  • Assists customers with check orders and check order inquiries
  • Ensure bank is in compliance with federal banking regulations including, but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, Community Reinvestment Act, American with Disabilities Act, Right to Financial Privacy Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Federal Reserve’s “lettered” regulations, and Assistant Branch Manager roles and responsibilities relating to each act.

   Customer Service (10%)

  • Represent Guaranty Bank & Trust Company professionally, efficiently, and tactfully
  • Acknowledge and greet customers with a smile, call customer by their name, ask if they need any additional assistance, thank customer at end of every conversation
  • Ensure continuing development of professional relationships with management and colleagues. 
  • Follow all bank policies and procedures
  • Answer and assist incoming callers with questions and requests; subsequently route callers, as appropriate.
  • Receive incoming bank visitors and assist in directing them appropriately.

Position Qualifications

   Education:       Required – High School Diploma or equivalent.

                                Preferred – Post –secondary certificate or degree, experience will be considered.

Experience:     Required – 1 to 2 years of experience in banking or related field.

Preferred – 3 to 5 years of experience in banking or a related area with prior management experience.
