Position Summary:
The purpose of this job is to provide administrative support for collection of any loan that is past due, including credit cards. This will include contact with lenders and customers for the collection of past due accounts.
Essential Functions-Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities (90%):

Essential Task Statement(s)
- Contacts customers with delinquency and negative accounts by phone, mail or email to determine reasons for delinquency and to apply company and industry regulations, federal, state and accepted collection techniques to bring accounts current.
- Educates customers on all workout options for consumer loans and credit cards that are delinquent, in order to bring the loan current, following guidelines.
- Ensures proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed.
- Utilizes skip tracing methods, including social media, to locate members, employers, collateral, etc.
- Assists lender in collecting past due accounts.
- Maintains confidentiality by only discussing bank business with those on a need-to-know basis.
- Attends foreclosure sales and assists with repossession efforts to include maintenance and marketing of bank owned property.
- Manages deadlines pertaining to various legal proceedings.
- Maintains and manages detailed records.
- Ensure bank is in compliance with federal banking regulations including, but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, Community Reinvestment Act, American with Disabilities Act, Right to Financial Privacy Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Federal Reserve’s “lettered” regulations, and Collections Specialist roles and responsibilities relating to each act.
Customer Service (10%)
- Represent Guaranty Bank & Trust Company professionally, efficiently, and tactfully.
- Follow all bank policies and procedures.
- Answer and assist incoming callers with questions and requests regarding past due loans.
- Good Communication skills are required including verbal and written in order to be able to diffuse hostile situations in a clear and calm manner.
Additional Functions-Secondary Responsibilities and Accountabilities (10%)
Additional Task Statement(s)
- Work overtime, as needed.
- Follow all bank policies and procedures.
- Utilize bank systems including: Teslar, ImageCentre, Horizon XE, Excel, and Word.
- Basic knowledge of Loans including: Identifying perfected liens, Understanding Deeds of Trust and Certificates of Title, and ability to understand credit reports.
- Understanding bankruptcy filings including: Chapter 7, Chapter 13 and Chapter 11.
- Understanding of Legal filings including: Foreclosures, Repossessions, Replevins, and Judgements.
- Understanding the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and required regulations pertaining to collection action. Understanding and working within these set guidelines to insure the bank stays in regulatory compliance.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned and requested.
- Provide assistance to other departments as needed.
Position Qualifications
Education: Required – High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred – Post –secondary certificate or degree, experience will be considered.
Experience: Required – 1 to 2 years of experience in banking or a related area.
Preferred – 3 to 5 years of experience in banking or a related area.
