What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foster Care Counselor- Urgently Hiring position at Guardian Angel Community Services?
Plan, develop, and implement mental health services for children and families in the Foster Care Program, to stabilize children in the least restrictive environment and enhance overall functioning for all clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete mental health assessments, treatment/service plans utilizing IM CANS, case notes, quarterly reports, discharge summaries, aftercare plans, & other documentation in compliance in compliance with Medicaid Rule 132, COA and all other funder and agency requirements.
- Provide in the moment crisis counseling per direction and input from Foster Care Case Management.
- Provide individual, family, and group counseling per the service/treatment plan.
- Provide counseling services onsite at GACS, at the foster home, or other predetermined and appropriate location.
- Participate in Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), Child and Family Team Meetings, placement meetings, hospital staffing, mediation, and other things as needed.
- Actively participate in individual/group clinical supervision/meetings.
- Be available after hours to assist in crisis intervention services when needed, including SASS assessments.
- Meet identified Medicaid documentation and billing requirements.
- Complete all required GACS training, and clinical training as identified and recommended.
- All other program duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
- IM CANS Certification (can be obtained upon hire)
- Trauma Informed Counseling Certification (can be obtained upon hire)
- Good verbal and written communications skills.
- Sensitivity to the cultural and socio- economic characteristics of persons served.
- Ability to exercise discretion, critical thinking, and independent judgment.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
