VISTA Community Engagement Specialist
Goal of the Project:
The VISTA Community Engagement Specialist will build capacity through increased volunteer engagement and more robust community partnerships. This will allow GASA to serve more people and have a greater impact on their lives. Increasing volunteer engagement and community partnerships is essential for the Community Hub, a groundbreaking initiative creating a space for the co-location of services offering a range of resources and a participatory programming model. Co-locating resources and encouraging reciprocal participation will foster a community grounded in mutual support and self-empowerment. The participatory model allows client and volunteers to contribute to Hub operations, gaining valuable skills and connections and enhancing service sustainability.
Objective of the Assignment
Create a sustainable volunteer management and engagement program by analyzing volunteer data, collecting and organizing stories about previous volunteer experiences, and documenting volunteer procedures and policies to update a volunteer management handbook and volunteer assignment forms. The VISTA member will also develop new and enhance current community partnerships, involving more connections in the Community Hub model GASA is transitioning towards. The efforts of the VISTA Community Engagement Specialist will improve the wellbeing and help increase the stability of our under-resourced Guardian Angel Settlement Association clients.
Member Activities: Volunteer Program Coordination
Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers, ensuring volunteers are matched with appropriate opportunities at the Social Stability campus and the Child Development Center.
Facilitate the system for managing volunteer applications, paperwork, and hours to create a smooth volunteer management and engagement process in compliance with our United Way certification.
Develop a wide range of meaningful volunteer opportunities for groups and individuals based on the needs of the agency.
Collaborate with the development department to strengthen and build volunteer relationships through meaningful volunteer experiences, stewardship, and recognition. Develop appreciation programs, events, or incentives to maintain volunteer engagement.
Develop a volunteer recruitment strategy by creating outreach materials and marketing volunteer opportunities to clients utilizing services in our Community Hub, aligning with the participatory model.
Member Activities: Community Partnerships Engagement
Create a GASA community event procedure for preparation, booking vendors, staffing, and day-of-event logistics and lead the taskforce in executing these events to further strengthen community partnerships.
Enhance relationships with local organizations, businesses, churches, and community leaders to enhance the visibility and impact of Guardian Angel’s mission and engagement opportunities in our Community Hub
Represent Guardian Angel at community events, including fairs, conferences, community coalitions, and other outreach opportunities. Develop community outreach strategies by creating informational sessions and digital campaigns, engaging community partners and coalitions in our Community Hub programming.
Support larger fundraising and capacity-building events hosted by GASA.
Conduct needs assessments to understand gaps in services and improve community-driven programming in the GASA Community Hub.
Collect client, volunteer, and partner stories, refining communication with our volunteers and members.

Research and develop grant proposals and sponsorship outreach materials in collaboration with the Grants and Data Specialist and Chief Impact Officer (CIO).
Develop impact measurement tools, measuring volunteer and program effectiveness for the GASA Community Hub.
