What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activity Aide position at Guardian Angels Health and Rehab?
Position Purpose:
The primary purpose of your job position is to assist the Activity Director in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs, in accordance with the resident assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisor.
Education and Experience:
- Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- preferably able to relate to and work with the disabled and elderly individuals within the care center who may at times be ill, confused, uncooperative, emotionally upset, or hostile
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Report to licensed staff any necessary observations made regarding potential changes in resident’s status
- Does not disclose resident protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator
- Report all grievances and complaints made by the resident, family, or visitors to the appropriate supervisor following the care center’s established procedures.
- Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement, so that care center activities and resident progress are evaluated, by noting, reporting, and charting resident behavior as directed.
- Follow the care plan in providing daily activities for the resident.
- Implement activity procedures as directed by the Activity Director by creating decorations, setting up necessary equipment, creating crafts, awarding prizes and escorting resident to and from activity area.
- Assist resident with crafts, projects etc., as necessary and/or directed.
- Oversee the resident engaged in scheduled activities to promote the physical, social, mental and spiritual well-being of resident by applying experience in activities and knowledge of diagnoses and conditions of resident.
- Encourage resident to participate in leisure pursuits, both individual and groups
- Transport resident to activities as applicable.
- Encourage and support the development of new interests, hobbies and skills.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Promptly report all accidents, errors and unusual incidents to the supervisor no matter how minor they may be. Such occurrences must be reported on the shift in which they occur.
- Utilize proper body mechanics.
- Operate all equipment that is used in the department and social areas accurately and in a safe manner according to established procedures.
- Report defective equipment to the supervisor.
- Work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and on other shifts/days, when necessary.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the care center.
- Befriend resident to encourage their self-esteem by visiting and conversing with them on a regular basis.
- Must be able to communicate, coordinate, and facilitate with other departments, families, and the general public.
- Must respect the resident personal and property rights.
- Must have a positive and friendly attitude.
