Seeking experienced candidates in Operating Directional Drill Boring Machine!
Skills / Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Minimum of 2-5 years of operating/locating directional boring machine and hydro-vac
- Understanding ground conditions for drilling/boring and construction of buried and underground facilities
- Operating and maintaining all vehicles, test and digging equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Working with excavation tools such as shovel, spade, pick, trencher, backhoe, cable plow, etc.; and other duties as assigned.
- Read communications prints for placing conduit or cables underground
- Experience with Utility placement in Public Right of Way
- Must be familiar with One Call laws in the area of operation
- Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and grounding the machine
- Drill out following the predetermined drill path to the exit pit
- Calculate speeds and feeds
- Load and unload tools and use a pre-setter to determine lengths
- Understand and adjust to hold geometric dimensions and tolerance
- Communicate with the locator/lead via radio to confirm the location of the drill head
- Back-pull conduits and cables from exit pit to drill pit
- Assist with the install of proper pulling gear and hook up product
- Oversee laborers and/or crew members work and monitor time usage
- Solid work history of success with no damage on drill / boring machine
- Certifications and/or extensive experience in operating hand and power tools, drills, and boring machines a plus
- Ability to spot/expose and identify utilities after they have been located
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, subcontractors, and clients
- Ability to read blueprints
- The ability to use a computer and navigate the required software
- Keep pace with production schedules
- Daily maintenance checks on machines
- Conduct post-job quality checks
- Follows specifications for the job and company policies
- Complies with safety procedures while driving and at job site
- Do basic math
- Use simple measuring devices
- Set up jobs on the machine
- Read blueprints to program and run work pieces
- Must be able to adapt to outside working conditions (sun/rain/temperature fluctuations)
- Must be able to bend/kneel/stand/walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift/push/pull 75 pounds regularly
- Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must have strong communication skills
- Clean, check fluid levels and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety
- Perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required paperwork, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment.
