Job Title: Primary EMS Instructor

Reports To: Director of Education

Department: Education

Location: Las Vegas

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

The Primary EMS Instructor at Guardian Elite Medical Services, LLC. is responsible for providing education in various EMS course curriculum in accordance with company, local, state, and national guidelines to provide an exceptional educational experience.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches courses in accordance with company standards and curriculum.
  • Ensures that training equipment is maintained and in working order.
  • Ensures training spaces are well maintained and clean for student use.
  • Completes a variety of paperwork including sign in sheets, skill sheets, testing documents, course evaluations, etc. These documents must be turned in at the end of each class.
  • Provides lectures, reviews, and skills training to the students, to include scenario-based training.
  • Assists students who come in for RQI training and CPR/First Aid skills verifications.
  • Ensures educational compliance with most recent National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards.
  • Completes annual refresher training for advancements in emergency medical practices.
  • Ensure maintenance of current certifications and licensures form recognized national and local organizations (NREMT, AHA, SNHD).
  • Communicates student progress to the Director of Education or their designee.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be flexible in work schedule and demands of the company.
  • Must attend all employee and management meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • AEMT Certification or higher at time of hire and licensure with SNHD within 3 months of hire.
  • EMS Instructor II through the Southern Nevada Health District.
  • ICS 100 & 200 and NIMS 700 & 800 within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to obtain AHA instructor credentials within 12 months of hire.
  • Experience with EMS Education.

Experience:

  • EMS Background: Must have prior experience as an EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, or another healthcare professional involved in prehospital or emergency medical care.
  • Instructional Experience: At least 1-2 years of teaching experience in EMS education, including EMT and AEMT programs; NAEMT courses and AHA/ASHI training is a plus.
  • Leadership: Experience in a leadership or administrative role, such as an Education Coordinator, Lead Instructor, or Training Officer in an EMS or healthcare education setting.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with EMS educational regulations and standards for agencies such as the Southern Nevada Health District Office of EMS, NREMT, and AHA.

Knowledge and Skills:

Technical & Educational Knowledge:

  • EMS Training & Education ? In-depth understanding of EMT and AEMT education; NAEMT courses, AHA certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS), and ASHI courses (CPR, AED, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Wilderness First Aid) is a plus.
  • Adult Learning Principles ? Ability to deliver effective training programs for adult learners.
  • Medical & Clinical Knowledge ? Strong grasp of prehospital emergency medical care, patient assessment, and EMS protocols.

Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge:

  • National & State EMS Regulations ? Familiarity with Nevada EMS regulations, NREMT requirements, Commission on Postsecondary Education guidelines, and Southern Nevada Health District Office of EMS policies.

Communication & Technology Skills:

  • Excellent Verbal & Written Communication ? Must be able to clearly explain training programs, policies, and expectations to students, and regulatory agencies.
  • Customer Service ? Strong interpersonal skills to handle student inquiries, provide guidance, and ensure a positive learning experience.
  • Computer Proficiency ? Experience with learning management systems (LMS), student enrollment software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and database management.

Preferred Skills:

  • Conflict Resolution ? Ability to handle student issues professionally and effectively.
  • Public Speaking & Presentation Skills ? Comfortable delivering lectures, presentations, and training sessions.
