Mine Paramedic Job Description

Overview:

We're hiring Mine Paramedics to provide direct patient care in accordance with GMR protocols and/or medical direction. They also assist with coverage of open shifts as needed with the assigned area.

Essential Functions/Duties

• Evaluates, treats, and stabilizes routine and urgent patients within the scope of practice and standing orders established by the sponsoring physician (Paramedic), with expanded scope responsibilities
• Consult with Medical Director as needed
• Administer over the counter medications
• Ordering/restocking of medical supplies
• Medical health screenings
• Administering flu shots and maintain proper documentation
• Restocking of First Aid Bags
• Restock Stoke Baskets
• Restock First-Aid Kits
• Assess each call situation to determine best course of action and appropriate protocol
• Utilize medical equipment and procedures including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR and other procedures and medications as required to provide advanced medical care
• Develop and utilize triage skills to provide optimal efficiency during calls
• Provide patient care according to clinical protocols and safety requirements
• Lift and move patients as required to provide optimum care
• Act as team leader and take responsibility for scene management as needed
• Monitor and maintain the general condition of the work area, keep it clean and stocked to maintain the image of Guardian Flight and GMR
• Must stay current with advanced training, instructor credentials, and continuing education
• Must successfully complete and remain current with MSHA required courses, participate in mine rescue drills; and must maintain all mine safety policies and complete all safety training
• Ability to function independently and be a self-starter in isolated locations that have poor communication and no support agencies
• Ability to climb a 75-foot vertical ladder with 50 lbs. of gear
• MUST be able to work underground in a hot and humid environment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Possess a valid Driver's License
• Current State of Nevada Paramedic Certification
• Driving record in compliance with GMR policy regarding insurability
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Paramedic, with the ability to function beyond the typical
