Job Summary:
The Medical Coordinator oversees medication management and medical administrative functions within a residential behavioral health treatment center. This role ensures timely medication acquisition, coordinates with pharmacies and healthcare providers, manages scheduling logistics, and maintains compliance with organizational and regulatory protocols. The Medical Coordinator acts as a key liaison between clients, healthcare providers, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Medication Management
- Review and manage medication refill lists from published medication reports.
- Contact pharmacies to check for existing refills and request renewals when necessary.
- Communicate with prescribing doctors to address medication changes, obtain refills, or explore alternatives for unavailable medications.
- Perform routine pill counts to ensure accurate medication inventory and compliance with protocols.
- Ensure clients have sufficient medication supplies and assist with acquiring new prescriptions promptly.
Provider and Appointment Coordination
- Schedule and manage appointments with doctors, pharmacies, and labs, ensuring timely follow-ups.
- Address scheduling conflicts, reschedule missed or emergency appointments, and confirm completion of required appointments for clients transitioning to lower levels of care.
- Facilitate communication between clients, providers, and the clinical team regarding appointments and medication needs.
Documentation and Compliance
- Upload After Visit Summaries (AVS), lab results, and medical records into the electronic health system.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of medication changes, side effects, and client health needs.
- Ensure adherence to medication management protocols and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Client and Team Support
- Address client concerns and complaints regarding medications and appointments, escalating issues when necessary.
- Participate in provider sessions and clinical team meetings to discuss client progress and medication-related issues.
- Coordinate with healthcare professionals to resolve medication or scheduling concerns effectively.
- Support the onboarding process for new clients by ensuring completion of required medical documentation.
Administrative Oversight
- Monitor and manage inventory of medical supplies and medications.
- Perform routine pill counts and resolve discrepancies promptly in alignment with organizational policies.
- Relay lab requests and ensure timely follow-up on results.
- Provide training or guidance to staff on medication management protocols as needed.
Education:
- Associates degree or higher in a healthcare-related field preferred.
- Certification in medical or pharmacy assistance is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with medication management protocols and state healthcare regulations.
- Experience addressing client concerns in a behavioral health setting.
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), or similar credential preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
Pay- $50,000.00- $70,000.00
