What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant, Insurance position at Guardian Life Insurance Company?
Due to internal career movement, we have an opportunity in the position of Accountant! In this role, you will be providing accounting and financial reporting support for the Individual Markets Controller’s department. This position will assist with the close process, financial statement audits, and financial reporting for Individual Markets (Individual Life, Disability, and Annuity products). The position is responsible for the integrity of financial data and accounting prepared on behalf of Guardian and its subsidiaries.
You will
- Perform monthly, quarterly and year-end close, including the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Responsible for supporting external audits by preparing and providing financial documentation and workpapers as needed.
- Prepare timely and accurate quarterly variance analysis, annual statement exhibits, note disclosures and State regulatory filing schedules.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting and reporting controls and provide efficiencies in the financial reporting process.
- Responsible for performing the Model Audit Rule (MAR) key controls testing.
- Perform in-depth financial analysis to support various internal customers.
- Assist in maintaining the chart of accounts for Guardian’s general ledger, specifically for Individual Market activity and products.
- Performing special projects and other ad-hoc assignments in support of Individual Markets line of business.
You have
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent professional experience.
- 1 years of related professional experience.
- Working knowledge of Oracle General Ledger and SmartView is a plus.
- Proven Microsoft Excel skills.
Location
This is a flexible position requiring 3 days a week in a Guardian office, preferably, Bethlehem, PA or Pittsfield, MA.
Salary Range:
$57,810.00 - $86,715.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
