The Guardian US is looking for a Political Enterprise Reporter based in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will be well sourced in Washington and adept at covering agencies such as HHS, Department of Education, and/or the Pentagon, as well as the world of federal contractors.

Key Responsibilities
- Work with a dedicated enterprise editor on the Washington desk and be expected to publish original reporting several times a week
- Work with other reporters in Washington to break news, report enterprise stories on the functioning of Washington and its impacts
- Break news and bring in exclusive stories on US political news
- Bring, build and maintain a wide network of relevant contacts locally, nationally, and globally
- Keep up to date with the current and upcoming issues and stories relating to their specialist area and work with the news editors and UK foreign desk to translate this into the best possible content
- Collaborate on stories by other reporters across the globe, where they require specialist input
- Write regular news features and occasional longer-form pieces that bring the context and characters of US politics to life for a global audience
About You
- Experienced reporter in DC with a strong track record of producing scoops and original breaking news to cover extremism and malfeasance in Washington
- Track record of breaking original scoops
- Experience covering politics for a national newsroom
- Deep knowledge of at least one key government agency/function (for example national security, defense, health care, etc.)
- Experience working on an enterprise desk and writing for a global audience preferred
