POSITION PURPOSE:
The Housekeeper provides a clean and safe living and working area for clients and staff well within established guidelines, following procedures for safe and sanitary living conditions. The Housekeeper works within the facilities policies and procedures and in accordance with standards of State and Federal regulations.

EDUCATION & RELATED ABILITIES
Grade school education.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 1-year experience in housekeeping functions, preferably in a health care setting.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the Principles and Practices of the Discipline.
- Adheres to facility ethics requirements.
- Knowledge of Environment of Care – Housekeeping specific standards.
- Demonstrates Proficiency in Verbal Communication.
- Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality.
- Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace
- Knowledge of Workplace Violence Prevention
- Knowledge of Corporate Integrity & Compliance

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION
- Damp wipe with a germicidal solution: chairs, tops of bedside cabinets, lamps, windowsills, etc.
- Clean all horizontal surfaces daily with a disinfectant to remove dust, dirt, and greasy film.
- Empty and clean wastebaskets, reline wastebaskets with plastic liners.
- Empty and disinfect garbage cans, reline with plastic liners.
- Clean tubs, shower stalls, tub room floors and fixtures daily.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms. Clean sink of soap and other articles.
- Clean and hose down entrance mats when needed.
- Clean offices, treatment rooms, patient rooms, lounges, and waiting areas as assigned.
- Wash windows, sills, doors, and damp clean air vents in bathrooms on a regular basis.
- Keep cleaning equipment in good working order, replacing damaged equipment when necessary and keeping all equipment clean and tidy.
- Maintain housekeeping closets at all times.
- Transport soiled linen to proper storage area.
- Disinfects all soiled linen containers, reline with plastic liners.
- Assists in the storing of clean liners.
- Maintains clean and sanitary condition in immediate work area.
- Reported to work as assigned.
- Completes daily tasks as assigned
- Maintains acceptable overall attendance.
- Promotes a favorable/positive work atmosphere.
- Attends in-services and educational training as necessary and as assigned.
- Seeks out learning experiences and incorporates new knowledge into practice.
- Maintains flexibility and adaptability to expected and unexpected changes in the work environment.
- Reports personal symptoms of suspected illness or contagious diseases to the Program Nurse.
- Utilizes hand-washing techniques and universal precaution at all times
- Pleasant, tactful, and courteous to clients, visitors and other employees and contractors.
- Physically and mentally healthy to perform job duties.
- Conforms to dress code as established by the Facilities Manager and appropriate to work place setting.
- Reports incidents, accidents, and occurrences in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Maintains safety of the physical environment.
- Performs all other tasks as assigned.
