Description
Guardian's rapid expansion requires an experienced Purchasing Manager to support the daily operations of our production department. As the Purchasing Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth procurement process of materials essential for various roofing projects. You will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and helping maintain inventory levels to support efficient operations. This role requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of the roofing industry. The Purchasing Manager will work closely with the Purchasing Director, Production Managers and the Yard Supervisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with Production Managers and Superintendents to determine material requirements for upcoming projects.
- Contract review for accuracy of scope of work, instructions, pricing, and material.
- Preparing, reviewing, analyzing, and processing correct purchase orders for materials, products and services related to each production department.
- Research and compare product suppliers and fleet vendors for reliability, quality, and cost -efficiency.
- Analyze pricing trends and market conditions to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Building and maintaining positive, long-term relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Ensure purchased materials meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and specifications.
- Manage timeliness and accuracy of material orders, deliveries and required permits. The ideal efficiency is to have all material orders and permits secured 1 week in advance of project start date.
- Permit processing as required for roof installation projects.
- Assist in preparation of budget, cost analysis, and reports relative to roles and responsibilities.
- Achieve department-related goals as necessary for the growth of the company.
- Assist with in-stock inventory of production department materials.
- Participate and contribute to weekly production meetings
- Must be available for occasional travel to Guardian's Portland office
