What do you bring to the team?
Güdel Inc. is looking for a Junior System Administrator to join the IT team in Ann Arbor, MI.** This is a hybrid position in which you will be in the office at least 3 days a week.*
Main job goals
- Monitor and track IT Ticketing System, assist and follow up on technical issues/tickets and report quarterly IT ticketing metrics pertaining to IT related issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve open tickets, evaluate and maintain end user workstation hardware, monitor and update end-user workstation middleware, antivirus, and software patching processes and perform software compatibility and patch testing.
- Provide IT assistance for operating systems, software and a variety of other software applications used internally.
- Support implementation of new IT systems
Main tasks / responsibilities
- Manage user accounts in Active Directory and other managed systems.
- Create and maintain system images for computer deployment for configuration consistency and time efficiency.
- Build positive relationships with computer manufacturers to assist with IT related issues as needed.
- Secure computer replacement parts and repairs for end-user systems.
- Maintain/update user help guides to educate users to reduce computer related downtime issues.
- Create and document IT systems processes.
- Assist with IT asset database management for inventory and Asset tracking purposes.
- Evaluate user and company needs, research and make recommendations for future upgrades
- Coordinate, manage and facilitate on-boarding of new hires to ensure new users have proper IT equipment to perform their jobs.
- Participate in ongoing end-user training for all software and systems as needed
- Providing end-user support, resolving technical issues and providing technical assistance for all operating systems and applications
- Providing in-person and remote support through use of the telephone or remote access
- Providing new employees with required hardware and appropriate access to the company’s computer systems
- Maintain business software applications.
- Researching, designing, implementing, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting and evaluating existing and new operating systems and applications.
- Ensure that architecture principles and technology standards are consistently applied and updated as appropriate.
- Testing, validating and installing operating system and application security/performance patches
- Directing third-party vendors who may be involved in diagnosing and correcting system related issues and assisting with solutions.
- Supporting management with IT requests and potential new implementations.
- Researching new IT services/vendors with management as needed for cost containment.
- Ensuring end users have proper computer resources including enough memory and the set up needed to be able to work efficiently.

Education, professional (skills) and language skills
- Associates degree from two-year College in a related field, or Technical Training Degree with a minimum of 6 month to 1 year similar work experience
- Strong technical understanding of IT related topics
- Ability to actively listen, process information and communicate effectively
- Ability to organize, plan, and effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Work experience requirements
- 1-2 years’ experience working with windows based operating systems
- 1-2 years’ experience with advanced computer trouble shooting techniques
- Demonstrated experience working with Laptop and Desktop workstation hardware MS Operating systems, MS Office products.
- Proficient use of remote support tools (Remote client access, deployment, and monitoring)
- Working knowledge of batch file, PowerShell, and Visual basic scripting
