Job Summary:
The Field Inspector performs field inspections of cable/fiber placement, cable/fiber splicing, and telecommunications construction work on customer job sites.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
Travel (daily) to assigned locations and conduct site inspections.
Inspect telecommunication cables and the work of field personnel and/or contractors/sub-contractors.
Documentation and reporting of field results.
Attend field meetings with field personnel as well as government agencies and construction contractors.
Operate and maintain field equipment and tools such as laptop, iPad, height stick, camera, personal protective equipment (PPE), etc.
May perform invoicing and manage work orders for subcontractor work.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Extensive knowledge of and experience with OSP and ISP telecommunications engineering standards, construction techniques, and blueprints.
Ability to work in a confined space and at high elevations (poles, hydraulic lift buckets, ladders.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
Ability to apply logical and mathematical principles and thinking to solve problems and make decisions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Earth.
Ability to edit documents and upload files into proprietary software.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able and willing to work indoors and outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions
Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
Must be able to work around heavy equipment and machinery
Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting
Must be able to stand, walk, sit or be in other physically demanding positions for long periods of time
Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear
Required Licenses/Certificates/Registrations:
OSHA 30
