Job Title: Assistant to Estimator

Reports to: Estimating Manager
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant to Estimator to support the Estimating team with various administrative and technical tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction processes (A Plus), excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the estimating field and contribute to the success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, and overhead costs
- Review project specifications, blueprints, and drawings to gather necessary information for estimates
- Compile and organize bid documents, including cost data and vendor quotes
- Maintain and update cost databases and historical data for future reference
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain quotes and product information
- Help prepare and submit bid proposals to clients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Perform take-offs (calculating material quantities from plans and drawings)
- Support the Estimating team with data entry, project tracking, and report preparation
- Assist with tracking project budgets, timelines, and procurement of materials
- Assist in maintaining an organized filing system for all project-related documentation
- Provide administrative support such as scheduling meetings and managing correspondence
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree in construction management or related field is a plus
- Previous experience in construction or estimating is preferred, but not required
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications (We will Train)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with estimating software is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with construction industry terminology and processes
- Experience with construction management or estimating software (A Plus)
- Strong mathematical aptitude and analytical skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds (for assisting with physical document management or materials)
