Golf Course Foreman - Giants Ridge

Job Summary:

The Foreman reports directly to the golf course superintendent and assistant golf course superintendent. The Foreman is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the golf course grounds and performs related tasks, as required.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Oversees the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs and trees of the facility grounds.
• Assists in the management of staff members that may include, but is not limited to greenskeepers, irrigation technicians and spray technicians.
• Assists the superintendent and assistant superintendent in training, planning, assigning and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding and discipling employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new employee.
Ensures a safe work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid driver

• 's license.
• Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a commercial applicator license in category A and E, paid for by the employer.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must be dependable.
• Ability to understand and follow oral direction.
• Strong attention to detail is required.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is often required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls.
• They will occasionally be required to balance, stoop, twist upper body, kneel and climb.
• The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision and depth perception.
• Moderate exposure to extreme cold, heat, working outdoors, chemicals, pesticides, gasoline, vibration, pollen, dust, mechanical hazards and electrical hazards.
• Noise level is typically moderate to loud.
• Ability to work extended hours during golf season including weekends and holidays.

In this role, you'll play a key part in overseeing the care and maintenance of the turf, trees and landscaping, ensuring our courses remain in pristine condition for golfers to enjoy. As a Foreman, you'll help lead and train other member of the golf maintenance team to ensure smooth daily operations. Plus, you'll operate a variety of golf course equipment such as mowers, aerators, skid steers and more, all while ensure a safe and efficient work environment for the team.
