Snowmaking Operations Supervisor - Giants Ridge

Job Summary:

The Snowmaking Operations Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance of snowmaking equipment and systems by maintaining pump, compressor and tower equipment. This hands-on position supports winter snowmaking operations by performing maintenance tasks and acts as the supervisor for the midnight snowmaking shift.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs maintenance on all snowmaking equipment includes oil changes, nozzle cleaning and manifold maintenance.

• Plans, schedules and maintains pump house including scheduling rebuilding of pumps, maintenance of snowmax system and valves.

• Ensures that all snowmaking staff have training needed to safely operate snowmaking equipment.

• Operates, maintains and inspects electronic snowmaking monitoring systems and equipment. Reports problems, as necessary.

• Monitors the snowmaking system continuously, including water consumption, machine status, machine availability and others to ensure the snowmaking system is operating efficiently.

• Utilizes handheld radios and computers for relaying operational information to snowmaking staff.

• Works with managers and supervisors to develop snowmaking system operation plans.

• Maintains inventory and maintenance records for all snowmaking equipment.

• Operates snowmaking equipment, snowmobiles, and snow cats as necessary in support of snowmaking operations.

• Acts as the supervisor for midnight snowmaking and grooming shifts.

• Performs other job duties as assigned by manager.

SKILLS AND KNOWEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

• Possess an extensive understanding of mountain and snow making system layout or has the ability to acquire such knowledge.

• Reading and writing work-related documents in English. Ability to read and understand technical manuals, diagrams and instructions.

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions effectively.

• Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite. Ability to learn and implement new computer program systems.

• Knowledge of radio communication networks and electrical troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to lead people, manage time and accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Must possess valid Class D driver's license with an insurable driving record.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must have a strong level of physical fitness suitable to perform physically demanding work.

• Must be able to work extended hours outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat.

• Must have the ability to walk, hike, stand, climb and balance on variable, uneven terrain.

• Ability to safely operate snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles on difficult uneven terrain.

• Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to twenty-five (25) pounds regularly, thirty (30) to fifty (50) pounds frequently, and up to seventy-five (75) pounds occasionally.

• Ability to work days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays as business needs dictate.

Starting hourly wage is $23.00 - $27.00 commensurate with experience.
