Senior Accountant (Hybrid, Reston, VA)

We are seeking a full-time Accounts Payable Specialist.

Summary

Responsible for supporting corporate accounting functions by preparing and maintaining internal, regional and cost center financial statements, processing general ledger transactions, performing monthly close processes, and performing other general ledger responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare internal, regional and cost center financial statements for review and approval

• Compile, review, analyze and record financial information to the general ledger

• Prepare monthly reconciliations to ensure general ledger account information is accurate, consistent, traceable and auditable

• Gather and prepare data for various financial and regulatory reports

• Recommend adjustments to internal controls in order to achieve acceptable levels of risk

• Develop and maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting policies, financial systems and processes, internal controls and chart of accounts

• Recommend adjustments to accounting processes and systems in order to achieve maximum efficiency and accuracy

• Participate in audits, ensuring responses are timely and deadlines are met

• Support management through timely performance of a variety of other accounting and financial tasks as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position currently requires no supervisory responsibilities at this time.

Professional and Technological Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, preferred

• 3 years of relevant experience, desired

• Public accounting experience, preferred

• CPA and/or MBA, preferred

• Must possess advanced skills in Excel and other similar business applications

• Mortgage or Financial Services industry, a plus

• Ability to read, write and interpret routine reports, documents and correspondence

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference

• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

• Ability to identify problems and opportunities, gather relevant evidence and make effective decisions using sound judgment

Our offices are conveniently located in Reston, VA and easily accessible from the Virginia, Maryland, D.C. area. We are located within walking distance to the Washington D.C. Metro's Silver Line Wiehle-Reston Station.

The base salary range for this position is $85K to $95K.
