Title: Vice President, Compliance
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Summary:

The Vice President of Compliance, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, with a dotted line to the Board of Directors, will be responsible for developing and managing Guidelight's in-house compliance function as the organization scales nationally. This role will build the internal compliance infrastructure from the ground up, ensuring adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation requirements across behavioral health, privacy, billing, licensing, and safety. As the company grows, this leader will serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team, proactively identifying and mitigating legal, ethical, quality and financial risks and implementing systems to support ongoing operational excellence, clinical integrity, and audit readiness.

Responsibilities:

  • Compliance Oversight & Policy Development:

    • Build and scale an internal compliance program aligned with federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and controls across clinical, operational, and administrative verticals.
    • Lead the company's Executive Compliance Committee and its activities in identifying and addressing the key legal and regulatory risks of the business.
    • Serve as the Company's designated corporate compliance officer and HIPAA privacy officer.
    • Conduct internal audits and investigations; track and resolve incidents in accordance with established protocols.
    • Develop and maintain a compliance dashboard with KPIs to monitor risk areas and performance.
    • Partner cross-functionally to ensure compliance is embedded into day-to-day operations.
    • Hire, manage, and develop a compliance team as needed.
  • Regulatory and Accreditation Compliance:

    • Maintain readiness for audits, inspections, and surveys from agencies such as CARF, state DPHs, and CMS.
    • Perform risk assessments and collaborate with business units to develop risk mitigation strategies.
    • Monitor regulatory changes and translate requirements into clear, actionable updates for the organization.
  • Training and Education:

    • Lead onboarding and ongoing training for staff on compliance-related topics, with a focus on maintaining accessible, centralized training materials for company-wide reference.
    • Serve as a strategic advisor to the executive team on regulatory risk and emerging issues.
    • Foster a culture of transparency, quality excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • External Reporting and Relationships:

    • Communicate compliance efforts to senior management, the Board of Directors and stakeholders, increasing visibility and alignment across the organization.
    • Build and manage relationships with external legal counsel, consultants, and regulatory bodies as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare, Public Policy, Accounting, or a related field preferred.

  • 10 years of relevant experience in healthcare compliance, including experience in highly regulated care environments.

  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or equivalent credential preferred.

  • Deep knowledge of accreditation standards and regulatory requirements from bodies such as CARF, state DPHs, and other applicable oversight organizations.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory topics across a wide range of stakeholders and to make persuasive arguments for the desired outcome.

  • High integrity and discretion in managing sensitive information and decision-making.

  • Passion for building processes that promote clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to assist business leaders in making judgments and decisions by explaining compliance rules clearly and balancing compliance risks with business needs.
