Summary/Objective
A fire alarm design-focused systems designer and consultant to provide assessments, design, and construction administration assistance on fire alarm and other low voltage discipline projects for a wide range of clients and industries. This full-time position requires an individual with project and people management skills, technical subject matter expertise, strategic planning skills, project accounting, and proven written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of fire alarm principles, technologies, and best practices, coupled with a proven record of accomplishment for designing and implementing effective fire alarm system designs. This position will support project development in the region.
The candidate should be experienced with the traditional Architecture/Engineering deliverable schedules, including Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration and the level of detail required for the design during each phase. Delivering mid to large-size projects that may include coordination with multiple disciplines including fire alarm, security electronics, telecommunications, and audiovisual.
Core Responsibility within this role will include
- Fire Alarm Systems and low-voltage system design, implementation, project management, and quality control. Develop detailed fire alarm system design documentation, including system specifications, schematics, and installation plans, adhering to industry standards and regulatory / code requirements.
- Manage large complex projects and clients, managing client and internal deliverables
- Meet client budget, quality control and scheduling requirements for projects
- Track project related issues and work with project team members to follow up on issues and status. Identify barriers to resolving issues and work to develop strategies to overcome barriers; provide follow-up activities to mitigate issues
- Customer relations, including maintenance of customer satisfaction metrics, responding to customer inquiries, answering phone inquiries and technical end user questions
- Collaborate with business development team to promote to target market leaders within Fire Alarm Systems, Engineering and Consulting industry
- Managing special consulting assignments for key clients and directing internal project manager deliverables
- Facilitate effective project team and cross-functional interactions (Technical, Operations, Business Development, Marketing, etc.) by working successfully as a part of a team and business functions to achieve positive results.
- Communication and record keeping of project decisions and directives in both written and verbal formats. Maintain project repository of documentation in a consistent and comprehensive project delivery method.
- Follow processes, continually seek to make processes more efficient, enforce processes, and conduct root cause analyses that lead to the update or creation of processes.

Required Education and Experience
An Electrical Engineering (or relevant field) bachelor's degree and four (4) years of fire alarm systems design and project management experience, or eight (8) years of fire alarm systems design and project management experience, preferably in the fire alarm industry.
Preferred Education and Experience
- NICET Level III Certification in Fire Alarm Systems
- Understanding of a project management life cycle, with an ability to read and understand proposals and develop preliminary project plans (tasks, timeframes, deliverables)
- Strong communicator, both verbally and written, is a key component of this role
- Experience working in Office 365 and Bluebeam software
- Understanding of building information modelling (BIM) and value of infrastructure and other disciplines coordination in the model.
- Experience designing fire alarm systems and project coordination in the California healthcare environment, including interaction and coordination with HCAI.
- Experience design fire alarm systems with any of the major fire alarm system manufacturers including Simplex, Notifier, Edwards, Siemens, etc.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Travel
Travel to Northern, Central and Southern California. Overnight travel is expected and travel to out of region areas may be required to serve client needs.
