Job Purpose:
The Healthcare Practice Leader plays a pivotal role in shaping the growth and success of Guidon Design’s healthcare practice. As both a strategic leader and operational manager, this individual will develop and execute a roadmap for expanding the firm's presence in healthcare, including public and private sectors as well as federal clients such as the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and DoD. This role requires a balanced approach: envisioning long-term strategies while managing day-to-day operations to ensure project excellence. The Healthcare Practice Leader will be responsible for identifying market trends, establishing new business partnerships, and deepening existing client relationships. In addition to business development, this leader will provide hands-on project oversight to ensure high-quality outcomes that meet both client expectations and industry standards. They will collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver sustainable and innovative healthcare environments that address the evolving needs of patients, providers, and facilities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Professional Registration.
  • 15 years of experience in healthcare architecture or engineering, with leadership and project management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare facility design, including codes, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Proven business development skills, with a track record of winning healthcare projects.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices and LEED or WELL certifications is a plus.
  • Knowledge of VA and DoD healthcare projects or experience with government contracts is highly desirable.
  • ACHA Board Certified Healthcare Architect preferred.
Skills/Qualities:
  • Healthcare Expertise: In-depth understanding of healthcare facility design, operational workflows, and regulatory compliance requirements. Firm understanding of FGI Guidelines, Life Safety Codes and CMS Requirements.
  • Communication: Strong ability to communicate ideas graphically, orally, and in writing to stakeholders across all levels.
  • Strategic Thinking: Work with Executive Leadership to align healthcare design initiatives with the firm’s strategic goals and identify areas for improvement and growth.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: Confident in addressing challenges early in the design process and driving effective solutions.
  • Work Ethic: Committed to exceeding expectations and maintaining high standards.
  • Technical Competency: Experience with Word, Excel, Power Point, In-Design, Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, Bluebeam and other relevant healthcare design tools.
  • Continuous Improvement: Ability to analyze and optimize internal processes and design documentation to maintain efficiency.
  • Leadership & Influence: Demonstrates the ability to inspire and guide teams, fostering accountability and empowerment.
  • Client-Centered Approach: Builds strong relationships with healthcare clients through trust and effective communication.
  • Analytical Thinking: Makes data-informed decisions to achieve business objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and implement the strategic plan for healthcare practice, aligned with Guidon Design’s goals.
    • Identify and assess market trends to position Guidon as a leader in healthcare design and engineering.
    • Collaborate with executive leadership to set and achieve annual growth targets and KPIs.
  • Business Development ,Client Engagement, & Thought Leadership
    • Build and maintain relationships with healthcare clients, including hospitals, healthcare systems, and government entities like the VA and DoD.
    • Identify new project opportunities and lead pursuit efforts, including proposals and presentations.
    • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to create targeted campaigns and thought leadership content.
    • Represent the company with white papers and presentations at key healthcare practice events and conferences.
  • Project Leadership
    • Oversee complex healthcare projects, ensuring they meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
    • Provide technical guidance, design reviews, and risk assessments for healthcare projects.
    • Ensure projects comply with industry regulations and sustainability standards.
  • Team Management & Mentorship
    • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent for healthcare practice.
    • Identify and train subject matter experts to become future practice leaders.
    • Mentor staff and foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
    • Promote cross-functional collaboration with the architecture, engineering, and sustainability teams.
  • Operations & Financial Management
    • Manage budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation to meet financial goals.
    • Utilize EOS tools like Rocks and Scorecards to align team performance with company objectives.
    • Drive operational efficiency and process improvements across healthcare practice.
