Purpose:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial & Operating Officer (CFOO) directs, administers, and coordinates the internal operational activities of the organization with specific accountability for finance, information technology, space services (reception and facilities), and quality and compliance. The CFOO is accountable for the financial, and risk management operations of the company, including the development of a financial and operational strategy, identifying and tracking relevant KPIs, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. The CFOO ensures that internal operations align with our core values of empowerment, dignity, innovation, collaboration, and perseverance, with equity at the center. This position supervises the Controller, Director of IT, Quality & Compliance, and Space Services Manager.

- Establishes the strategic operational direction and ensures alignment with organizational vision, mission, goals, and values.
- Works with division leaders to develop and implement long term strategic goals and plans for managing, maintaining, and developing each area.
- Consults with internal and external customers to define business requirements for complex systems and infrastructure development.
- Provides strategic operational perspective, feedback, and support to fellow executive team members regarding key organizational and management issues.
- Develop financial strategies and plans that align with the Guild's overall business objectives.
- Work with Guild’s leaders to support their role in the execution of Guild’s financial strategy and achievement of financial goals.
- Provide analysis of financial results, including trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with fundraising efforts, including preparing financial projections and proposals.
- Advise on Guild’s capital structure, including financing, to support growth initiatives.
- Develop performance measures that support the company’s strategic direction.
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile.
- Report financial results to the board of directors, report risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors.
- Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts; arrange for debt and equity financing; invest funds.
- Establishes policies that promote company culture and vision through its finances and operations. Ensures operational and financial consistency and sustainability.
- Develops and establishes operating policies and procedures and ensures their adequate execution. Appraises and evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and reports these results to the Board of Directors and executive team.
- Directs the development and establishment of equitable personnel policies throughout the organization, including compensation policies and employee benefit plans. Ensures that the interests and welfare of employees as individuals are preserved and protected.
- Provides change management support across the organization including executive sponsorship, planning, engagement, training, and reinforcement.
- Sets, enforces, and evaluates legally compliant finance, space services, information technology, and quality and compliance policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Train and mentor leaders to understand basic nonprofit finance principles, budget & forecast creation and management of activities that guide financial decision-making.
- Drive budget and forecasting processes, working with various departments to prepare accurate and achievable plans.
- Implement cash management strategies to optimize liquidity and ensure operational viability.
- Continuously monitoring financial performance against the budget.
- Identify and implement cost-saving and efficiency-improvement initiatives (i.e., AP Automation).
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities, including the ability to recognize and cultivate rising talent.
- High-level understanding of internal operations.
- Aptitude in sound decision-making and problem-solving in pressure situations.
Education and Experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree or related educational credential (or minimum of additional five years’ experience).
- Minimum of 7 years’ progressive leadership experience that includes administration, budgets, supervision, and strategic planning.
Preferred
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Leadership experience in the nonprofit and/or healthcare sectors.
Additional Requirements:
- Must not be actively receiving or have received services from Guild in the last two years.
Working Conditions:
- The CFOO may work in a variety of settings and must be willing to work outside of regular business hours.
