CONTROLER

FLSA Status : Full-Time, Salary, Exempt FTE : 1.0 Salary Range : $115,000 - $130,000 / annually Website : https : / / guildservices.org /

Purpose :

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller leads and oversees Guild's accounting / finance team. The objectives of this role are to guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape; develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines; achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions; help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies. The Controller ensures that financial operations align with our core values of empowerment, dignity, innovation, collaboration, and perseverance, with equity at the center.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Lead the agency's finance department including accounting and billing.

Provide work direction, develop, train, and coach finance team. Support team needs through performance coaching and assessment, resource and time management, and initiative prioritization.

  • Cultivate collaboration across finance department team members, agency leadership, and staff.
  • Empower the accounting and billing staff to run the day-to-day work, assisting with prioritization, managing results, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Ensure all contract and grants financial accounting and reporting requirements are met.
  • Oversee the accounting system, timely and accurate recording of transactions and preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Lead the finance activities and ensure regulatory compliance of financial operations.
  • Annual budget creation, regular review, and analysis of month-to-month actuals.

  • Prep and participate in audits (annual, single and others as arise).
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax document preparation and filing.
  • Ensure the accounting system functions consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Ensure adequate internal controls to protect the company against fraud and other risks.
  • Ensure budgetary control systems, record keeping systems, and other administrative control processes.
  • Develop and monitor systems and processes to manage financial risk.
  • Complete competitive vendor request for proposals in the areas of banking, audit, and investments.
  • Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Competence with financial software and technology
  • Understanding of financial and accounting standards and regulations
  • Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Leadership skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Education and Experiences :

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related field
  • Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
  • Preferred

  • Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant)
  • Leadership experience in the nonprofit and / or healthcare sectors.
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Must not be actively receiving or have received services from Guild in the last two years.
  • Working Conditions :

    The Controller may work in a variety of settings and will occasionally be required to work outside of regular business hours.
