Guilford Central School has an anticipated opening for a part-time (.60 FTE) position elementary school social worker for 2025-26. Job responsibilities include providing consultation on student social/emotional needs to classroom teachers, designing and implementing preventative interventions, supporting behavioral intervention plans, leading student social skills and counseling groups, and assisting with crisis management as needed.
Candidates for this position will work closely with the school health and safety teams which may include school counselors, school nurses, BCBAs, special educators, and principals to support students and families. Qualified applicants should be prepared to work with individual students, small groups of students, and families, as well as partner with other school personnel, including teachers, to best support student needs. Interested candidates should be willing to maintain a flexible schedule, support family involvement opportunities and activities at each school, and work with community partners to identify necessary and appropriate resources for families.
Applicants should be able to promote and maintain positive relationships with students, families, state agencies and community partners and work to ensure that all students have equal access to education and services to enhance their academic progress. Applicants for this position should be well versed in counseling and therapeutic practices, and have the ability to support students and families in crisis; a willingness and the ability to provide home visits is preferred.
Preferred candidates will possess Master’s in Social Work (LICSW preferred) with experience providing services in a school setting.
Applicants must be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Vermont AOE as a School Social Worker or School Counselor.
