DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Janitorial Facilities Services Assistant
- Maintains cleanliness of the Greensboro Detention Center, High Point Detention Center and the Guilford County Juvenile Detention Center.
- Maintains cleanliness of county buildings by sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping walls & chairs, cleaning door glass & windows, sanitizing phones, waxing, buffing tile floors, vacuuming, spot cleaning carpet, sanitizing and stocking restrooms, emptying trash using necessary cleaning tools and supplies in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- Maintains cleanliness of county properties by trimming bushes and trees, removing debris, cutting grass, and sweeping parking garages with the use of gardening tools, lawn mowers and sweepers.
RECRUITMENT STANDARDS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic cleaning procedures.
- Considerable knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment used in a housekeeping and grounds operation.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
- Knowledge of minor repairs to buildings and grounds equipment.
- Ability to work in variety of temperatures and conditions.

- Position is subject to overtime with the potential for after-hours work due to urgent and/or emergency situations.
- Position is expected to work during inclement weather

Physical Demands
Must be able to perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking and repetitive motions. Heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work Conditions
Work is performed inside and out in varying conditions including loud noise. Hazards may include occasional exposure to health risk of infection when cleaning up body fluids.
If a personal vehicle is operated for county business, proper insurance must be maintained as per Guilford County’s vehicle use policy.
