GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Work is primarily purpose of the assistant swim team coach is to provide safety and customer service to the swim team, teach the competitive swim strokes and the skills necessary to increase proficiency in performing each stroke, assist the head coach in all duties assigned, help plan team events, and help prepare for run swim meets. Work is performed at one of the Guilford County Parks.

Work is primarily purpose of the assistant swim team coach is to provide safety and customer service to the swim team, teach the competitive swim strokes and the skills necessary to increase proficiency in performing each stroke, assist the head coach in all duties assigned, help plan team events. Public contact is described as greeting public as they enter facility, and assisting them with various customer service needs. Work is performed under regular supervision by the Swim Team Head Coach and progress is checked through review of reports.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties & Tasks
- Coach swim team members during practices and swim meets.
- Provide customer service for participants by answering questions, assisting with meet participation forms, communicating expectations and important information about the team.
- Prepares entries for swim meets using specialized meet manager software, and facilitates the running of swim meets.
- Performs related duties as required.
RECRUITMENT STANDARDS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the 4 competitive swim strokes and how to teach them.
- Knowledge of stroke components and skills necessary to perform each component.
- Knowledge of swim team goals, expectations, calendar of events, and program structure.
- Knowledge of team manager and meet manager software.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to use basic computer software for preparing meet entries, running swim meets, and communicating with participants via email.
- Ability to demonstrate swimming and diving skills.
- Ability to perform all competitive swim strokes.
- Ability to use team and meet manager.
- Ability to multi-task to juggle multiple swimmers at a time as well as answer parents' questions.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
High school graduation, experience in coaching a swim team and a valid driver's license is required. Preferred: Coaching certification or Red Cross (WSI) and experience working with youth and their parents.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands of Work
Work is primarily outside in uncontrolled climates with exposure to natural elements and high temperatures or hazardous conditions depending on where the employee is needed to work. Work is described as standing: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, and data entry at computer terminal.
May Require Driving
This position may require driving for this position whether driving a County owned or personal vehicle to conduct county business such as but not limited to attending conferences, meetings, or any other county related functions. Motor Vehicle Reports may be verified for valid driver's license and that the driving record is compatible with the county's driving criteria.
If a personal vehicle is operated for county business proper insurance is maintained as per Guilford County's vehicle use policy.
