What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Supervisor position at Guilford Housing Authority?
The Guilford Housing Authority (GHA) is seeking qualified and experienced applicants for the position of a working Maintenance Supervisor. This position is responsible for maintenance management of 131 units of state elderly housing across three sites.
Performance of duties includes and requires – but is not limited to: the ability to perform maintenance, supervise and direct personnel, possess knowledge of buildings and ground maintenance procedures, methods and tasks, property inspections, general maintenance, and unit turnovers.
The Maintenance Supervisor reports directly to the Executive Director.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED. Graduation from an accredited vocational/technical school with training in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and/or related field with journeyman level skills is a plus.
· At least 5 years of experience in performing building repairs and maintenance, building construction or related field with a minimum of one year in a supervisory capacity.
· Computer and related technology skills.
· Valid driver’s license with proof of insurance.
· Residence within 30 miles of Guilford, CT.
Physical & Environmental:
Must possess: strength, stamina and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work, work around machines, climb and descend ladders, operate a variety of tools and equipment, vision to read printed materials and to distinguish colors in wiring, hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. Incumbents in this classification operate tools and equipment, bends, stoops, kneels, reaches, and inspects work sites. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.
Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions; exposure to chemicals, mechanical and electrical hazards and hazardous physical substances and fumes.
Regular hours are M-F. (8a-4p). Availability for rotational afterhours calls and/or emergency response is required.
Salary range begins at $70,000 and is depending on experience.
Benefits include 12 paid holidays per year and 15 paid time off days per year (PTO). The GHA will pay 80% of the premium for the employee’s participation in GHA’s medical insurance plan.
