Job Summary:
The Guilford Technical Community College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach Human Services courses with a focus on Substance Abuse. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, and managing effective instructional activities. The instructor will also be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.
Key Responsibilities:
• Teach Human Services courses with a focus on Substance Abuse
• Develop and implement learner-centered lesson plans
• Employ teaching strategies and instructional materials for different learning styles
• Incorporate current technology in classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments
• Create and model a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population
• Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials
• Conduct appropriate assessment of student learning outcomes
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in a Human Services discipline such as counseling, psychology, social work, or marriage and family therapy from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution
• Current substance abuse certification such as Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS), or Master Addiction Counselor (MAC)
• Three years of recent experience in a human services practice setting and/or as an instructor in human services
• Post-secondary teaching or industry training experience in human services, conducting training sessions, or conducting professional development workshops
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with clinical supervision
• Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
• Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
Working Conditions:
The instructor will work in a variety of settings, including classrooms, laboratories, and online environments. The instructor will also be required to maintain a professional status that supports the instructional mission, participate in professional development activities, and maintain current credentials or licensures as required by program or accreditation.
