The Criminal Justice Instructor at Guilford Technical Community College will be responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, assisting in the developing of courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college. The instructor will prepare and teach the Criminal Justice courses in accordance with the requirements of the college. This position reports directly to the Dean for Human Services, Public Safety, Health & Physical Education.
Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field with 18 graduate credit hours in criminal justice from a regionally accredited college/university
Education Preferred
Doctoral degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
Experience Required
- 5 years of relevant field experience in criminal justice (law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole, homeland security, etc.)
- 2 years teaching and/or industry training experience in criminal justice topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars
- Greater than 5 years of relevant field experience in criminal justice (law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole, homeland security, etc.)
- Greater than 2 years teaching and/or industry training experience in criminal justice topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars
- Teaching/training experience in a post-secondary institution.
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes

7. eLearning Level Two in Canvas for instructors who teach online or hybrid delivery methods before the first day of the first semester teaching in that format
