Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.
Under supervision of the Dean of Health Sciences and Program Director for Dental Sciences, this individual will prepare and teach Dental Assisting program courses. The successful candidate must be able to instruct on a wide range of dental topics and supervise skill practice in both the lab and clinical setting. The individual will also be responsible for collaborating with community healthcare partners to coordinate necessary training and education experiences consistent with federal, state regulations as well as programmatic accrediting standards.

- Bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- Graduate of an accredited Dental Assisting program
- Current Certified Dental Assistant credential
- Current Basic Life Support / Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification with the American Heart Association or ability to obtain certification prior to hire date
- Master's degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- Membership in the American Dental Assisting Association
- Three years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a chairside dental assistant
- Teaching and/or industry training experience in dental assisting topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars
- Greater than three years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a chairside dental assistant
- Experience with Dental materials
- Post-secondary teaching experience
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems

- Shooter on Campus (within 30 days of hire; annual refresher thereafter)
- Personal Information Protection (within 30 days of hire; annual refresher thereafter)
- Ethics and Social Responsibility (within 30 days of hire; annual refresher thereafter)
- eLearning Level One in Canvas before the first day of the first semester teaching
- eLearning Level Two in Canvas for instructor who teach online or hybrid delivery methods before the first day of the first semester teaching in that format
- Bloodborne pathogen/personal protective equipment (yearly)
- Required immunizations and acceptable results on background screening consisting of Criminal Background Check and drug screen if required
