Job Title Specialist, Assessment and Retention Full Time/Part Time Part-time Job Description
The Assessment and Retention Specialist is responsible for coordinating paperwork flow and documentation for Adult Education programs including registration and Literacy Education Information System (LEIS) forms. This person will report directly to the Adult Education Coordinator/Director. This person will also assist with CASAS and TABE testing, student registration, student follow up and other duties as needed for the Adult Education programs. This person may work late afternoon and evening hours.
Duties/Functions
Provide initial assessment of students seeking to enroll in Adult Education Program.
Register students to classes based upon assessment.
Advise students regarding attendance, educational and occupational goals and individual plans for progress.
Assist in review and evaluation of the accuracy and appropriateness of student data, outcomes, goals, etc., and report discrepancies or concerns to the program coordinator and/or director.
Assist with new student orientation and other program support processes.
Assist with student post-testing as needed.
Answer phone calls and assist students in reception area as needed.
Demonstrate and model the College's employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork.

Education Required
Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Office Management or related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
Education Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Office Management or related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
Experience Required

The following (compliance) training is required and must be completed within the first 30 days of hire with annual refresher training thereafter:

Education Required

Experience Required
- Two years of related administrative experience and a proven record of progressively responsible experience in administrative functions, including evidence of experience in the following areas:
- Thorough knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment to include basic accounting practices to track budget and expenditures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and experience using word processing, developing spreadsheets, developing presentations, and using database software applications
- Greater than two years of related administrative experience and a proven record of progressively responsible experience in administrative functions as described above.
- Experience in an academic or training environment.
- Demonstrate the skills and abilities to maintain and organize program specific documents.
- Demonstrate proficiency in various computer software applications (i.e., MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Demonstrate the ability to meet the public easily, be willing to expand scope of knowledge and to adjust to flexible conditions/situations.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
- Punctuality and flexibility in time management.
- Neat and professional in appearance.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail is a must.
