About the Curriculum
The Guilford Technical Community College's welding program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the industry. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will play a critical role in helping us achieve this goal by teaching welding courses designed for short-term certification programs.
Course Responsibilities
- Teach welding courses to include developing learner-centered lesson plans, employing teaching strategies and instructional materials for different learning styles, and incorporating current technology in classroom, distance learning and laboratory environments.
- Collaborate with industry partners to ensure relevancy of the curriculum.
Requirements
- Diploma in Welding Technology from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution or the equivalent.
- Current welding certifications (obtained or held within the past 5 years) e.g. Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
- Three years of recent and relevant industry experience as a welder.
- Experience welding to American Welding Society certification standards.
- Experience with oxy fuel cutting and other thermal cutting processes.
- Experience with visual inspection of welds to a code or standard.
